Scott Bougen | Ultra Trail Runner

Every now and then we get the opportunity to support someone doing something awesome. This time it’s helping Scott Bougen race the highly prestigious Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB).

Meet Scott Bougen

I’m a passionate ultra trail athlete, loving partner, and proud father of two beautiful children. I balance my time between being a parent, partner and managing my own business.

My journey into the world of ultra running began a few years ago, and it has since become an integral part of my life. I have pushed my limits and embraced the challenges that this demanding sport offers. Endurance and perseverance have become my closest companions on the trails.

Ultra Trail Runner

Over the years, I have taken part in a number of ultra events, creating my early foundations in Backyard ultras. This is a gruelling format, where participants run a 6.7 kilometre loop every hour, on the hour until they can no longer continue. It truly tests an athlete’s physical and mental endurance.

These events have taught me the importance of pacing, strategy, and relentless determination. This was evidenced in my most recent backyard performance, where I ran 45 loops/hours, 301.5 kilometres.

Tarawera & UTMB

In February 2023, I achieved a significant milestone in my athletic career by participating in the renowned Tarawera Ultra Marathon 100 Miler. This gruelling race, known for its stunning New Zealand landscapes, tested my physical and mental limits. Despite the intense competition, I achieved a remarkable 6th-place finish, an accomplishment that fills me with immense pride and satisfaction.

Furthermore, my performance at the Tarawera Ultra Marathon earned me the opportunity to compete in the highly prestigious Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) in 2023 as an elite runner.

UTMB is the pinnacle of ultra trail running, drawing the most elite athletes from around the globe. It is an honour and privilege to have qualified for such a revered event, and I am eagerly preparing to tackle the challenging 170-Kilometer course in the breathtaking French Alps.

I am constantly inspired by the beauty of nature, the support of my family, and the incredible community of fellow athletes. The trails provide me with an escape, a space where I can challenge myself and experience personal growth.

As I continue to explore new limits and chase my dreams, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own passions and push beyond their perceived boundaries.
