Sterling

Sterling Rope is the leading manufacturer of life safety rope, cord, and hardware.

Sterling was born in 1992 and we have been making the highest quality, most innovative static and dynamic rope and cord for decades.

We were the first to offer a 48-carrier static sheath construction for greater durability and better handling. We came out with the first 100% Polyester static rope called the HTP. And Sterling were the first to offer 100% Technora heat and abrasion-resistant ropes to the fire industry; helping FDNY create the first escape kit. Even our accessory cords were constructed differently; utilizing our innovative sewn tacks and eyes. Our ropes and cords are seen on the most technical rescues, in the tallest trees, on remote missions as well as hazardous job sites. We are there to get people home safely, day after day.

Throughout our 25-year history, we have grown not only our product line but our people. We’ve advanced folks from the production floor to supervisors and managers, from customer service to directing sales, from interns to engineers.  Each of us has a passion for creating great product, a cool culture, and servicing wonderful customers.

Our communities have grown along with our involvement in them. Our products give our customers the Freedom to Focus, regardless of whether they are working on rope, using rope for safety or rescue purposes, or climbing recreationally. They can focus on the task at hand and not have to worry about their gear.

Sustainability

Sterling has been a sustainable rope company since day one and operates with an incredible level of efficiency around waste. Over 95% of the raw fiber that we purchase gets made into finished product rope. Everything that does not make it into the final product is either repurposed or recycled.

In 2021, Sterling achieved Carbon Neutrality through a partnership with The Arbor Day Foundation.  In addition, Sterling is working towards becoming Climate Neutral Certified through Climate Neutral. Climate Neutral works toward carbon neutrality by measuring and offsetting companies’ carbon emissions, while working to reduce their future carbon footprint.
